Everyone is responsible for sustainability and the protection of resources!

We as a company, but also each and every one of us, can make a significant contribution to combating climate change and protecting the environment. Every little step counts. Here are a few examples:

On our way to a digital office

As our world is getting more and more digital, we are also moving towards making our day-to-day work as digital (paperless) as possible. By switching to digital office solutions, we are sending out a strong message against the excessive consumption of resources and are promoting a greener future. The following measures are part of our commitment to a digital office: Working paperless: The implementation of advanced document management systems enables us to drastically reduce our paper consumption and minimise our ecological footprint. All suppliers and customers are encouraged to send documents only in digital form to avoid further paper consumption. Energy-efficient technology: We invest in energy-efficient hardware and promote the use of cloud services, which not only increase efficiency but also reduce the energy consumption in our offices. Remote working: To reduce commuter traffic, we offer flexible work options that enable employees to work from home. This helps to reduce CO2 emissions and at the same time improves the work-life balance of our employees.

Carbon neutral printing

Despite all our efforts, printing generates a certain amount of CO2.We cannot completely eliminate printing just yet. However, we work with print shops that use climate-neutral printing processes to support climate protection projects worldwide. In addition, we are constantly optimising our processes to reduce material waste and increase energy efficiency. These measures actively help us to conserve resources and reduce our environmental impact.

Environmentally friendly company vehicles

We also plan to further increase the number of eco-friendly vehicles in the coming years. These efforts are part of a broader environmental policy that also includes reducing energy consumption and promoting renewable energies.

Combined heat and power plant at the Mainfrankenpark

The plant has two gas engines with an impressive output of 1,500 hp each. These engines power generators that produce around 10 million kilowatt hours of electricity and 15 million kilowatts of heat per year. An innovative system of exhaust gas heat exchangers utilises the heat from the engines to generate hot water, which is then distributed to the buildings in Mainfrankenpark through a local heating network.

Reduced carbon emissions thanks to short transport routes

As a shipping company, our logistics department is constantly confronted with challenges and changes. In cooperation with our suppliers and service partners, we mainly use regional service providers. This enables us to ensure the shortest possible transport routes between our logistics center and our business partners, keeping carbon emissions to a minimum.

Sustainable energy production

Using the power of the sun, photovoltaics are considered one of the most environmentally friendly ways to generate electricity. Thus making it a sustainable contribution to the energy turnaround. As a pioneer in the field of innovative power generation, we installed a photovoltaic system on the roof of the distribution center right from the start. Aligned to the east and west, it produces electricity evenly and constantly throughout the day. A considerable portion of the electricity required for the building itself can be generated this way.

Returns sales

With the countermovement to the ‘take-make-dispose society’, it is becoming clear that more and more consumers are not just buying brand new goods. In order to protect the environment and encourage recycling, our online shop ‘demoware.technikdirekt.de’ offers products that have minor flaws but are technically in perfect working condition.

Eco-friendly packaging for shipping

In our efforts to integrate sustainability into all areas of our business, we have made significant progress in the eco-friendly design of our packaging and shipping processes. We favour packaging materials with a high recycling content to minimise our ecological footprint and utilise resources efficiently. Our adhesive tape is made from 85% recycled material, which not only reduces the need for newly produced plastics, but also helps to close the materials cycle.
